Course Overview
In accordance with Part A Section A-I11/4 of the Standard of Training Certification and Watch Keeping (STCW Code) for seafarers as amended which established the mandatory minimum requirements for officers in charge of the engineering watch or intended to be assigned or assigned to ship board duties on a seagoing vessel other than passenger ship at the support level.
Who should attend this program
Persons who work or intends to work or intend to work in the maritime oil & gas industries specifically for those who are employed or want to work on board a ship. Officers and/or ratings who are in charge of an engineering watch and also those designated with the duty of an engineering watch.
Course Content
The course is divided into two semesters of three (3) months per semester
First Semester:
First Semester is an introductory class of three months and an observation of one month. The course content has been developed to provide the basic knowledge and academic requirement for a person new to the sea profession. It is meant to give a first start introduction for all intending and engine room serving seafarers at rating level. It covers, applied mathematics, Maritime Safety, Marine Pollution and control General ship knowledge, workshop practices, Introduction to computer science, communication in English, and term paper
